Manantiales de Paz
This displaced community is called Springs of Peace. Families who were forced to flee their hometowns due to violence and conflict built this settlement on the slopes of the Andes Mountains. Due to the absence of an effective state, gangs have infiltrated this community, presenting many development challenges and forcing residents to negotiate for resources. Nothing happens here without their permission.
The Christian Union Sports Club, COSDECOL for short, was invited by local gang leaders to build a soccer field in the neighborhood center, creating a safe place for their children to play. The reputation of COSDECOL speaks volumes throughout the city of Medellin and surrounding areas in Colombia, giving them opportunities to transform lives and use soccer as a discipleship tool.
Soccer is a sanctuary here, and COSDECOL goes beyond just teaching the sport. They’ve created an environment where faith, hope, and purpose can thrive. It’s a beautiful sight to see.
